Installing WordPress
- Download the latest WordPress package from wordpress.org and extract the files.
- Create a MySQL database and user for WordPress in your hosting control panel (e.g. cPanel). Make a note of the database name, username and password.
- Upload the extracted WordPress files to your web server using FTP/SFTP. If installing in the root directory, upload the files to the public_html folder. For a subdirectory, create the directory first and upload there.
- Create a wp-config.php file by either renaming wp-config-sample.php or running the install script. Enter the database details you noted earlier.
- Visit your domain in a browser to complete the installation. Select your language, enter your site title, admin username/password and email. Click Install WordPress.
- Log in to your new WordPress admin area using the credentials you set up.
